Ray's Family Home

This home embodies two years of thoughtful design, balancing compact living with functionality. Inspired by their time in a tiny house, Ray and his wife envisioned a space that felt cozy yet accommodated family gatherings. Ray's design prioritized high performance, featuring a robust building envelope and exceptional airtightness, ensuring energy efficiency and comfort.

The basement was designed for versatility, split into a dedicated home office and a fully equipped gym. Ray took on the challenge of building the house himself, relying on subcontractors for specialized work. Construction began on July 7, 2023, under challenging conditions, as torrential downpours and historic flooding in Vermont delayed progress. After a month-long pause to allow recovery efforts statewide, the team resumed work in August. Through dedication and collaboration, the home was completed in one year, and Ray's family moved in on July 6, 2024.

This project is a testament to perseverance and the power of thoughtful design, resulting in a home that perfectly suits its family’s needs and lifestyle.
