Off-Grid Elegance: Mountaintop Retreat

This project was a rare opportunity to craft a home like no other—a discreet mountaintop retreat seamlessly integrated into its natural surroundings. By building the majority of the structure into the hillside rather than on it, we created a design that is nearly invisible from the surrounding area, with unique forms that respect and blend with the landscape.

Inside, the innovation continued with bespoke design features. A central spiral staircase, built from stacked plywood and accented with CNC-milled railings, serves as both a functional centerpiece and a work of art. Organic shapes informed the design of screens and paneling, adding warmth and a natural rhythm to the interiors.

The retreat’s off-grid systems make it as sustainable as it is unique. Solar, wind, and geothermal energy power the entire compound, feeding into a robust battery backup system. This blend of cutting-edge technology and thoughtful design results in a home that not only minimizes its environmental footprint but also provides unparalleled serenity and comfort.

This project stands as a testament to the power of innovative architecture to create spaces that are at once groundbreaking, harmonious, and entirely self-sufficient.
