From 1950s Ranch to Dream Retirement Home

Our client purchased a 1950s ranch home at the base of a ski mountain, envisioning it as the perfect place to retire. However, through our schematic design process, it became clear that renovating the existing structure—compromised by mold and a failing block foundation—would not be cost-effective.

With a new home as the goal, we focused on designing a traditional Cape-style house tailored to meet our client’s needs and unique tastes. The interior features sealed plaster walls paired with painted trim, creating a timeless yet bold aesthetic that reflects the client’s personality.

This project highlights the importance of thoughtful design, allowing us to transform a challenging starting point into a warm, inviting home that perfectly suits its owners and their vision for retirement.
